adventures aboard our CS34 sailboat

Last Sail of the Season

It was time to move our boat to Loyalist Cove Marina in Bath, Ontario, for her new haul out location. We made it into a mini-vacation spread over three days. And the weather cooperated with us!

We have a fan!

On our last sail of the season we had another sailboat recognize us. We felt like superstars!

Our New Place to Anchor

One of our issues with keeping our boat in Cobourg is that you are on open water (Lake Ontario) and there’s no close place to anchor overnight. We recently discovered a spot close by.

Heading home through Murray Canal

We survived the storm in Belleville and now complete our journey, mostly motoring, back home to Cobourg through the Murray Canal.

Hiding from the storm in Belleville

We continued our journey home from the Thousand Islands, leaving Picton and heading towards the Murray Canal. We know there’s a good chance of a wind storm but we go anyways.

Little Bluff Park and Lost in the Dark

We find out why anchoring at Halfmoon Bay was difficult and then spend the day at Little Bluff Conservation Area. That afternoon we head home via the more protected northern route, Adolphus Reach.

Waupoos Estates Winery

Today we get to feel all posh by anchoring our sailboat out in front of a winery and taking our inflatable to shore to meet up with some friends.

I’m no longer allowed to make judgement calls about weather

I am here to publicly admit, I was wrong, Lori was right. As you can see from the picture above, I was overly optimistic that the storm we were heading towards would blow on by before we got there.

Windless Wednesday

Just a random post of my favourite video from last year, when we could race. I really like the timing of the VHF announcement in this video. Wednesday was race night on Lake Ontario, near Cobour...

On our own in the Thousand Islands

All of our kids are gone and we are now alone, drifting on our boat in the Thousand Islands. How are we going to get along?
